I've just started playing with it and it is working great. I just need to remember to connect the ground to me to ensure that my touch triggers the various buttons/features. I included a photo next to a real Banana for scale, it seemed appropriate for a Banana that does scales next to one for scale...
It's fun! The building instruction written in the booklet is very concise. Also it contains step-by-step testing process, which helps noticing mistakes early.

I ordered the Synth-a-Sette for students to use in my school social work office and they have been really enjoying using it as both a therapeutic tool but also for working on social skills with other students. I've also been enjoying playing with it myself, it's been such a fun instrument to use! Thanks again!
We build MicroKits theremins on a circuit board inside an Altoids tin. It's our most fun by far DIY Workshop.
Our first kit had a problem so Dave sent us a second kit and everything worked perfectly! I love the simple electronics lesson that comes with the instructions. And of course actually playing a theremin we made is fun and satisfying.
We assembled this as a little date activity hoping to get a better understanding of the electronics behind musical gear and instruments. We’re both musicians aged 29 and 33 and no kids but we chose this kit because of the simple explanations behind everything. Other educational materials geared to people our age tend to assume we know more than we do and at some point it feels like we’re too old to ask about those things. We both feel like we were able to apply what we learned about the inner workings of a theremin to other musical gear we work with daily, like our amps and pedals. Sometimes you just gotta have things explained to you like you’re a child aged 6+ if that’s what it takes to understand. And we now have a sweet new theremin to commemorate a successful lesson! Bonus points for nobody getting zapped or burned in the process. It wasn’t a risk we were really concerned about but sometimes that’s just how hands-on learning goes.
I gave a synth-a-sette to my son for Christmas and we absolutely love it. He’s learned so much about octaves, conductive objects and how it works already, it plays so well and we love that you can do so much with such a small instrument. We’ve shown it to friends and they also were delighted to play and learn about it. I really like how the updated model has a backing with screws to secure the batteries (always good with kids) and is really nicely refined in design. The cassette tape design is wonderful. I can’t wait to assemble the next kit with him: the Theremin is a birthday gift. Absolutely recommend and Dave is excellent at answering questions so thoroughly.

I run DIY workshops for music electronics. There was a popular outcry to do a DIY Theremin workshop. So we put the MicroKit Theremin on a circuit board, mount it in an Altoids tin, and folks make their very own tiny mobile theremin.
I’m still blown away by how amazing Synth-A-Sette is! I bought it for my future husband because he’s a huge music fan, and now we’re both absolutely hooked. He’s experimenting, playing, and creating such cool things, it’s just mind-blowing. I didn’t expect this to be THAT good. Every detail feels so carefully crafted: the sound is phenomenal, the interface is super intuitive, and using it is pure joy. You even put new batteries inside already (thanks!). I just want to say a huge thank you for this masterpiece! It’s clear you’re not just making a product.. you’re creating magic! Synth-A-Sette inspires, surprises, and brings so much joy. We’ve totally fallen in love with it! Huge gratitude for creating something so unique and amazing. You’re truly talented! (P.S: We both thought that it would be a bit bigger in size, but it doesn't matter XD, we love it!). And also we will order something else from you in future! :)
My 8 year old son and I enjoyed putting this kit together that I bought as a Christmas gift! Educational AND fun to play with. The instructions were very clear and I appreciated the explanation of why each part worked as expected.
Wonderful little theremin project. I got this for my partner, a producer, and he loves it. It brought out the kid in him. Pieces are quite tiny so we used some tweezers and some good lighting. Makes sense, it is a micro kit after all. We can't wait to buy another invention to do together :)
Building this was a delightful treat and the steps had pictures to help understand the process. The history behind it was amazing too. It was so fun. Edith , aged 9

I used a set of the Theremin MicroKits in summer camps with makers as young as 11 years old! The instructions were so well written with colorful illustrations to follow along for the non-readers. Kids learned all the names of parts too. We all had so much fun making these and then playing music. Thanks for making such a great kit to learn about electronics.
What fun! I’ve been obsessed with theremins for years and have been wanting to build one of my own. When I saw this kit, it sounded like the perfect Summer Break activity for my kids. In just 30 minutes, I built the kit with the help of my five year old, and we’ve had so much fun playing with it since! Highly recommended for anyone interested in learning about circuitry, electronic music, or just plain STEM fun. The instructions were great and very easy to follow. Looking forward to getting more cool gadgets from MicroKits.
I work with some special learners. We approach some science, math and practical skills via art and music. This is perfect to get a grasp on electrical currents and grounding and playing some music and exploring whatever else will conduct electricity. Best of all, we have fun.

Fun to do with my grandson.
Easy to follow instruction. Good intro to electronics for this rookie. The battery pack had a reversed part. Spring negative/positive contact installed in reverse. Quick fix. More knowledge of transistor, capacitor, resistor needed.
My 7 yr old grandson and myself just completed our Theremin ! It went well we only had to change 2 wires throughout the project. We attached a video, hope to see our 15% disc coupon.
This is the coolest electronics kit. My grandkids ages 5 and 7 had fun building it, but more fun playing it. It was very easy to put together. The instructions are very clear and fun. I highly recommend this kit.

As a college for of both tapes and small synths, this was such a neat find. It sounds a bit like a Stylophone but it does exactly what the promotional stuff tells you. Easy to hook up and play. I recommend for unique synth collectors. Only flaw: limited in sound variety.

This is the best product of this type that I have ever encountered. The instruction booklet is clear. The multi-stage process with testing at each stage provides an excellent learning process. We made a few mistakes manage to put the kit together in less than a half hour.
Absolutely LOVE my theremin! I bought it at the end of 2021, and it sat in its packaging until tonight, when I assembled it and fell in love. I came to this website to buy 5 more and see you’re sold out :( I hope you get more back in stock soon.

I Love this kit. Seriously brilliant. Design, components, instructions, and circuit and electrical knowledge provided. All together brilliant. Couldn’t be happier with this fun little kit. Would love to acquire a voice synthesizer to attach to this and bring it to another level or fun. But just as this puppy sits it’s simply wonderful.
I was looking into theramins. I'm not a musician, but I love playing instruments for fun. Theramins are expensive instruments though. I got this kit for Christmas. I love putting things together and had a lot of fun assembling my kit. The instructions are clear and the steps are done well. The tidbits of information about each part were excellent. I was surprised at how quickly the device could be assembled (all the little parts intimidated me at first). But the instructions were so clear that I soon had a working theramin. Keep up the good work. Hope you'll come up with more fun kits.
